FAQ
» What is the difference between the "JIC" and e.g. a "ISO/HL7 project"?
- JIC is a harmonization process between SDO’s to share comments to build an identical document.
- ISO/HL7 project is an HL7 standard moving forward into ISO/TC 215 to move through the ISO process to become a dual logo standard in TC215 and HL7.
» When a project successfully goes through a JIC ballot, will the project be an ISO standard?
- There is no JIC ballot, only coordinated ballot times between participating SDO’s on a particular document.
- Not all of the SDO’s participate on all documents. Some SDO’s may not have interest.
- The current goal as stated in the charter, is that all JIC projects when ISO/TC215 participates will become an ISO standard.
» Does the balloting for "JIC" and e.g. "ISO / HL7 project" always follow a "Fast-track" ballot?
- JIC projects to date, have followed the Vienna Agreement parallel balloting track, the usual ISO default ballot track.
- ISO/HL7 documents usually follow the ISO/HL7 agreement balloting: NWIP-DIS and then based on the DIS ballot results may or may not have an FDIS ballot.
- See presentation on JIC Process comparison
